The University of Arizona’s Outreach, Distance, and Continuing Education (ODCE) division is providing high school students across Arizona with a unique opportunity to gain college experience before they even graduate. Through the Community Campus program, students can earn college credits, explore advanced subjects, and transition smoothly into higher education—all while still in high school.

Early College Credit and a Competitive Edge

The Community Campus program offers high school students a significant advantage: earning college credits while completing their high school education. By participating in Dual Enrollment, students not only get a head start on their degrees but also reduce the time and cost of completing college.

“Participating in dual enrollment can significantly ease the transition to college,” said Bonnie Taylor, Director of Outreach and Business Affairs. “Students who engage in these programs enter college with a better understanding of what’s expected and are often more prepared to succeed.”

These courses also expose students to the demands of university-level work, helping them build confidence and academic skills that will set them apart from their peers.

A Seamless Transition to University Life

The Bridge Programs offered through Community Campus are designed to help students navigate the shift from high school to college. These programs help familiarize students with the structure and expectations of university courses, making the transition smoother and less intimidating.

“The Bridge Programs give students a chance to acclimate to the rigors of college life,” Taylor explained. “They come in better prepared for the academic and social aspects of university, which helps them thrive once they’re on campus.”

Specialized Learning Opportunities

Community Campus doesn’t stop at general education college prep courses. The initiative offers a variety of specialized programs tailored to students’ individual interests and career aspirations. Courses range from advanced STEM classes to apprenticeships and language studies, providing students with unique learning opportunities and hands-on experience in fields they’re passionate about.

Programs like Steps2STEM, Project Focus, and the Sky School High School Research Apprenticeship give students access to cutting-edge resources and faculty, positioning them for future success in highly competitive fields.

For students interested in taking part in dual enrollment or specialized programs, the Community Campus program offers a pathway to success.
